higher secondary education Board has made English compulsory from June, 2006 in standard 10 and now
its compulsory in 11th and 12th in all the streams
§ Syllabus and teaching
method of English has always remained changing in Gujarat
§ English is taught as
compulsory subject from Forth standard.
§ In arts colleges English is
taught as optional subject while in colleges of commerce, engineering, medicine
and management courses English is the medium of instruction.

The state government has come up with many programmes and projects like
SCOPE and has established English digital labs in schools, colleges and other
educational institute to help students improve their English.
